Britian Pulls Out
Prime Minister Tony Blair declared today that Britain would be pulling their troops out of Iraq. Blair said he would take 1,600 troops out in next couple of months in aims to take their over 7000 troops below 5000 by this summer. Britain said that at this point they will still be supportive and help train Iraqi forces but they feel its time that they put it more in US hands. The Bush Admin. says this is a very important step in getting out of Iraq.
When I first heard this this morning I was kinda pissed and felt like Britian was just bowing out under pressure but now that I have looked into it more I now see that this could be a very good thing as far as getting out of Iraq goes. Like I’ve said before I do not support an immediate cut and run as the Democrats suggest but a slow and strategic removal. Even with the input of 21,000 more US troops this can still be done. I do believe also though that we will probably need more than just 21,000 to totally secure Iraq. My serious prediction is that we are out of Iraq by next spring. If that is the case then it could be very possible that the war might not even be an issue in the 2008 election.
Was Britian pulling out good? Tell me what you think.
Big Jimmy
Just to let everyone know also I’ve added the link “Politicians on the Issues” its a link to ontheissues.org. I figured we would be talking alot about candidates so I thought we could get our facts right on the candidates and what they voted for etc.
Jimmy, it is very strange that you think that Britan pulling out will help us. It wasn’t very clear in your last entry and I hope you don’t mind explaining you Ideas. In my opinion Iraq should not be considered Americas problem by the rest of the world. What happens in Iraq will determine the future of the middle east and that will affect the rest of the world in one way or another. The fact that the other countries are giving up and not caring about what the outcome will be is quite frankly disturbing.
Have you ever thought about why the Dems. are in such a rush to pull out? It is because if a Dem. wins, he/she will wish to start his/her reign as president with a clean slate. Do you really think people like Hillary or Obama would be able to comand troups to successfully win a war?
Also, how can you say that the war wont be an issue in the 2008 election? The voting records of the candidates and whether thy supportted the President will play a major role in the up comming election as it should. Flipflopers like Mrs. Clinton should be exposed for what they are, power hungry, egotistic people who care only for themselves and their parties. And quite frankly do you think the democrates will let the republicans just walk away from this war without demonizing them for supporting it? I dont mean to offend you if I have, but I wanted to see what you thought about what i had to say.
PS check out “http//:lairofjustice.blog.com” Its been a while, but I’m back with a vengence!
You see Knight Walker this war must end and if we can end it now than it is better than ending it ten years from now. Yes we should get the job done but if we can get the job done and get out it is better than staying in to just prove a point. Now your reaction to the Britian thing is the same exaact reaction i had at first but then i thought about it. You see we are not the only ones in Iraq and Iraq is not just our problem but it is mainly our problem and before we get out the other countries must get out first. Britian is not leaving us behind as you’ve indicated but helping pave the way to finish the job. No the Dems like Hillary and Obama would be terrible in leading this country in war but are you suggesting that we wish to stay in war so they will utterly fail? Because say were still in Iraq and hillary becomes prez. if she screws up over there (which she will) she screws us.
ok. Here is my reasoning that iraq will not be an issue in the 2008 election. Mans minds are on the short term memory. For example I went to Virginia this week and the trip down was a terrible 17 hr ride on a closed interstate etc but I will be the first to tell you that the trip was an amazing time becuase we had so much fun in virginia and the trip back was fine. You see if we make all the right moves from here on out in Iraq and leave in an orderly fashion (not cutting and running) then people will forget the bad times and only remember the good and people like Hillary and Obama loose their main platform. And America will see Bush as a good president and we’ll want someone strong to take his place, like McCain.
You think Clinton is a flipflopper - you better check out some of McCain’s past speeches. And ol’ Dubya has change his tune on Iraq more times than disc jockey at a high school prom.
I find it utterly laughable that you feel Obama or Clinton could do any worse running a war than Dubya has done. His legacy is complete, he will go done in history as one of the worst presidents in the history of this country. Squandered a huge budget surplus, did nothing to advance issues in this country, and led us into an unwinable, treasurey draining fiasco.
I do agree with Big Jimmy that Britain, and all the rest of the coalition of the willing who are pulling out, are paving the way for us to exit. At some point the number of troops will be too small to safely be in the country and we’ll have a nice little skirmish going next door that will be conveniently needing troops.
