Dubya and Honest Abe?
For those of you who read my last post I said that if all goes well from here on out in the Iraq war and were out by next spring then it won’t be an issue in the 2008 election. Well I most definitely stand by that statement and I feel I have found some similarities between good ‘ol George W. with the Iraq War and Abraham Lincoln with the Civil War.
As we all know that Lincoln was shot five days after the Civil War ended and shortly before that Lincoln was elected to his second term, which he did not get to serve. Well lets just say that Lincoln had his doubts that he would even be reelected. Yes thats right Abe Lincoln, now probably on everyones top 5 president list almost was not reelected to his second term. He wrote letters to generals saying that they needed to wrap this war up because of how unhappy the American people were. Yes, yes I know, The CIVIL WAR and people in the North were leaning against the war and electing George B. McClellan, the former head Union General that decided the war needed to end, or in reality a cut and run strategy (another comparison?). Well we all know what happened next. Sherman marched to Savannah bringing destruction to the South while Sheridon destroyed the farm lands in the Shenendahoah Valley and the North won some major, major victories (and lost tons and tons of men in the process, you can thank Ulysses S. Grant for that) and the honorable General Lee surrendered at the Appomattox Court house in Appomattax, VA and then five days later Lincoln was shot by a crazed actor named John Wilkes Booth.
The comparison that I’m trying to get you to see is that people did not want Lincoln to be their president again. They wanted a totally different war strategy and they were starting to actually dislike Abe Lincoln. The reason why he was reelected was because of the huge turnaround in the war and when everyone saw that the North was starting to make all the right moves and when the people saw potential victory they rallied behind their troops and their president! We need the same thing today! We need to make ALL the right moves in Iraq and we need to win this war and get out and I can guarantee that not only will George W. Bush have a much better legacy, we won’t have to deal with a democrat in the presidential office!
I wonder what Hillary will do after losing the election, I say she leaves Bill.

So what are saying all the mis-steps up till now in the Iraq war will are part of the master plan. That Dubya was saving the good stuff for just the right moment? What makes you think dubya and handlers have any better of an idea of how to win the Iraq war, with the insurgents now so firmly entrenched, than he did at the beginning when he was only fighting the down trodden Republican Guard.
You must really be sweating he next presidenecy - a choice be a woman or a black in a position of power. How does a right wing christian conservative deal with that? I guess you can at least take comfort in the fact that the next president won’t be gay.

If we are still in Iraq, Donald Duck could run as a democrat and beat any GOP except for maybe Sen. Hegal from Nebraska. If Bush doesn’t cut and run, what little remains of his legacy will be lost. His problem now is that having lied so much in the beginning, he has no credibility for anything he says, even if he is absolutely correct.
He has lowered the bar so far as to what would be considered a victory, it makes no sense that he doesn’t declare victory and get out.
If its the issues that would prevent you from voting for Obama, I’m curious what issues? You have stated that we will be out of Iraq and the war won’t be a political football in the next election. So what issues do you disagree with Obama on?
first of all besides Bush lying about that there were NO WMD’s (because we know they were there) in Iraq and that we had faulty intelligence what has he lied about?
also unfortunately I seriously believe that our next president will be Mr. Rudy G. Because he’s so in the middle, he’ll get votes from both democrats and republicans. he’ll be better than a democrat but worse than a McCain, of course in my opinion.

Rudy has a whole lot of Pre 9/11 baggage that will be dragged out and is too far right for the GOP base. He may get some votes for the same reason Kerry did - anti oppenent votes.
Bush has lied about 20 different times as for the reason we went into Iraq. He lied about the Plame case, he lied about his Saudi connections, he has lied about the economy, health care, social security, tax reductions for the wealthy, prison torture, and National Guard service. Anyone in his administration who has been critical of his stance has been canned.

first off, those are all “conspiracy” lies. for example about the National Guard service, i think Dan Rather found out about the truth the hardway on that one.

With the exception of the illegal aliens, I’m with Obama 100%. I still don’t understand how you are against murder in the case of abortion but feel the death penalty is a good thing.

if you call that murder then you might as well call self defence murder also. you kill someone then you yourself should be killed. very simple. i do believe in forgiveness but forgiveness does not mean “letting someone of the hook”. there are consequences for your actions.

Death Penalty is not justice it is revenge. It differs from self defense in the fact that their are other options available. And certainly you cannot state without exception that every person who has been put to death for a crime was actually guilty of that crime (innocents murdered), that there were no mistakes, no agenda’s, no old boy network at play. If indeed you believe that abortion is murder, and those who commit murder should themselves be put to death, then you are advocating death for anyone who participates in the abortion process? Including the SCJ that passed Roe V. Wade which makes them duplicitious in the abortion/murder?
Affirmative Action
I find it very interesting that white males are so up in arms about suppossed favortism when it does not benefit themselves, but look the other way when a minority race is subjected to the same treatment. Have some gone too far on the issue - of course, but that is true of any mandate.
Gun Control
I’m all for a person possessing a weapon for self defense, hunting, target shooting, etc. I do not see where an automatic or semi-automatic weapon would be beneficial (or legal) an any of these scenarios. We can not arm our police with a 9mm and expect them to go up against someone with an AK-47.
you can twist the death penalty into what you want it to be. the fact is there is consequences for your actions. now don’t be stupid, obviously we can’t prosecute the SCJ’s that passed Roe V. Wade but we should prosecute doctors that commit the abortions. i put more blame on the doctors in most cases than i do the mother of the child.
AA is crap. all it does is bring up racism, now against whites. even if i have better grades than a minority they will get a bizillion more scholarships than me. if i’m better qualified for a job but a company (becuase of AA) has a certain minority quota, i don’t get the job. thats bull crap. whoever is more qualified they should get the job and whoever is gets the better grades (white or minority) they should get the better scholarships. very simple.

SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED! that means no bans. our right to bear arms has NOTHING to do with hunting or sporting reasons it is so we can protect ourselves from a tyrranical gov’t and form militias. the first thing men like napoleon and hitler did was take every ones weapons because without weapons we can not stand up against them. thats why are forefathers mad the 2nd amendment, semi- auto or auto their OUR right.
Comment 15 P1 – I didn’t twist anything, I agree there should be consequences, all I’m saying is that there are other options available that may not be available to a person defending themselves – which is the comparison you came up with. You can’t prosecute doctors for following the law. As for the SCJ, no body is above the law, if abortion is murder and they aided the commitment of a crime then they must also be subject to the penalties for violating that law.

P3 – I agreed with you about the right to bear arms. However the Constitution is a living document, there is no way the authors could have ever foreseen the types of weapons now available. The right to bear arms should not be any arms, for the reason I stated. If you are going to state no bans on weapons then that includes pipe bombs, dirty bombs, TNT, etc. No to those?? Then you are going to have to define what “arms” means, and now you have bans. Let’s just say you define arms to be a hand held device that uses gun power to fire a projectile. I could easily make a device that would fire a pipe bomb, TNT, Nitro, even a dirty bomb (if I had access to radioactive materials) that would meet the above description. So at some point you are going to need bans on some type of weapons. I think that ban should limit weapons that are more lethal than we allow our police force to carry. What benefit is there to allowing the average citizen to possess an AK-47?
yes i believe that everyone involved in abortions should be prosecuted and i also believe that the SCJ’s that confirmed Roe V. Wade are responsible and should feel very guilty of the hundreds of thousands of Americans they have given the right to be murdered.

I think that video makes more of a statement for a total ban on guns than allowing assault weapons. Having said that, I’m still in favor of the right to bear arms, just not more lethal weapons than the cops are allowed to carry. If you are in favor of the right to own AK-47’s than outfit the police with them as well. The concept of forming a militia to protect one’s self from the gov’t is so far removed from reality, it’s not even funny. The gov’t can blast you out of a hole from 20 miles away - what’s the range on an AK-47? The two “militias” of late that thought they could protect themselves where taken out by tanks. The assault rifle issues boils down to who is really gone to have them, and who is really going to defend themselves from one. I just don’t see John Q. Public in this role.

3. the thing about the scoop and dump after 9/11 is it had to be done. there thousands of remains left in there that would have taken months possibly longer to get, should we have waited, i personally believe the right decision was made. and i’m not even a rudy fan, i just personally think that it had to be done. now with the whole firefighters union getting all up in arms, its all politcs. did you read the whole article about how the union gave support to kerry in ‘04, etc. like i said i’m not a rudy fan but this stuff is just politics that won’t make a lick of difference in the election.
